It is important to think critically about the terms we use as well as the historical legacies of such terms/fields within our educational realities. Furthermore, with the publishing of the new California Department of Education manual on students at the intersection of English language development and special education, it is important to unpack and make meaning of it so we may be more intentional of our actions within our educational organizations.
